After several months of preparation, since we started this Monday, May 18, our intervention on the course Belsunce in Marseille, with benches that we were handmade with cardboard recovered in the district. From the first moment they were welcomed by all passers-by and neighborhood regulars, very warmly. They are all the time, from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. (they are removed in the evening) 100% occupied. Many
congratulate us and thank us to offer, finally, a place to relax, rest, accessible to all. Perhaps it is a beginning to change the public area of our city?

intervention artistic El otro lugar / The other place
Belsunce Course, Marseilles - the 18 to 24 May 2009.
These benches were designed and constructed collectively by a group of volunteers with cardboard collected in neighborhood Belsunce, at the initiative of the association El otro lugar / The other place.
We built these benches for passersby to Belsunce offer a place to sit, a comfortable place to chat, daydream, or simply relax and watch other passersby. You can turn them to your liking, instead of relaxation, contemplation, appointments, reading, snacking, listening, thought or dialogue.
As you noticed, the benches are furnished endangered in the city center. Yet, they are objects of reception, free, friendliness rest stop in the city accesible to all. With these banks cardboard handmade, we want to affirm a different idea of public space.
They will be there for us all for a week, every afternoon, except in case of rain or storm! Day by day, meetings and activities take place around the benches and we will listen to your feedback and comments.
Take, therefore, the time to sit!
